map2Prevent Child Abuse Athens is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to preventing child abuse in all of its forms through education, support and public awareness. We serve families in Clarke, Jackson, Madison, Oconee and Oglethorpe counties.

Prevent Child Abuse Athens has served the Athens area since 1986, beginning as an all-volunteer group emphasizing parenting classes and community education. In 1992 two part-time staff were hired — a Director and a First Steps Coordinator. The Healthy Families program began in 1995. Today, the organization includes a 22-member Board of Directors, 16 paid staff members, and many trained volunteers. Prevent Child Abuse Athens serves over 5,000 individuals each year.

ssnPrevent Child Abuse Athens is funded by state and local grants, foundations, and individual and business donors. Primary supporters include the Department of Human Resources/Department of Family and Children Services, The Department of Public Health, the United Way of Northeast Georgia, the UGA Kappa Delta Sorority, the Turner Family Foundation and the Jackson EMC Foundation. Our expected 2017-18 income is approximately $785,000 of which fully 94% goes directly to program services for children and families.

In 2018, our annual fundraiser, “Starry, Starry Night“, netted more than $72,000.  We hope to top that in 201 at the 28th annual event being held on February 2 .  Watch our website for more details.  We hope that you will join us at Athens’ best “black tie” event and fundraising party!

Prevent Child Abuse Athens relies on donations from individuals and businesses in our 5-county area. Donations are tax-deductible and are always welcomed!
