<<< In June 2011 Prevent Child Abuse Athens received a $2,400 grant from Jackson EMC to focus on ending neglect and abuse, to help fund 24 Parenting Skills classes to teach positive discipline, communication, how to handle feelings, stress reduction and child development stages. The HEALTHY FAMILIES Program... Brandis Parrott and her son, Javier, read from a children's book during a Healthy Families graduation ceremony. Healthy Families promotes strong literacy skills in young children. The organization is struggling with funding as it competes with several other agencies for state grants.

GREAT NEWS! Prevent Child Abuse Athens benefits from a Google Grant (in-kind) award. The Google Grants program supports organizations sharing Google's philosophy of community service to help the world in areas such as science and technology, education, global public health, the environment, youth advocacy, and the arts. Designed for 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, Google Grants is a unique in-kind advertising program harnessing the power of Google AdWords advertising product. Google Grants has awarded AdWords advertising to hundreds of non-profit groups whose missions range from animal welfare to literacy, from supporting homeless children to promoting HIV education.
GRANT RECIPIENT: PCAA was one of 17 organizations in the State selected to receive
funds from the Georgia Health Foundation. We received $15,000 for
support of our First Steps program. In addition to the grant funds.
The Foundation has paid for our membership in the Georgia Center for
Nonprofits. Thank you, Georgia Health Foundation.
Prevent Child Abuse Athens co-sponsors a Fall CyberSafety Symposium with the Clarke County School District each year at Clarke County Middle School. In 2010 many parents and kids attended and heard FBI agents speak on the hazards of predators, Anna Curtis with Prevent Child Abuse Georgia talk about how threats are changing, an AT&T rep cover wireless safety (texting, etc), and Free IT Athens gave away a desktop computer system as a door prize, and MORE! Thank you ALL for making the evening a HUGE hit.
